General Questions

  1. Is this free?

    2. Yes, this is competely free.

  2. How do I make a slideshow?

    3. Click 'Create' on top of the page
    Click 'Slideshows!
    Click 'Browse' and double click on an image to select it
    Click 'Browse' again to upload a second image or
    Click the links under 'Customize' and select from the various choices such as tags, transitions, themes, pins (Rockstar Account Only), size, and privacy.
    Click the 'Save' button to save your work and get the code.
    Enter your email address (recommended) or click 'Skip'
    On the following page, click the corresponding button for your site under 'How to add' for instructions.

  3. Do I need an account?

    4. No, you do not need an account to create a slideshow or any widgets on our site. However, you will not be able to go back an edit it once you leave Rockyou without saving it to an account.

  4. How many photos can I upload?

    5. There no limits to the number of photos you can upload. However, they must be in jpeg, gif, or png format and less than 3 megs in size.

  5. How many slideshows can I have?

    6. There is also no limits to the number of slideshows you can make.

  6. How long will my slideshow be saved?

    7. The slideshows will be on our servers until you delete it.

  7. How do I resize my photo?

    8. If they are greater than 3 megs then you can resize them this way if you don't have Adobe Photoshop or other tools to edit photos.

    If you have a PC, then go to Start ->Programs->Accessories->Paint
    Load your image into Paint
    Click Image->Stretch/Skew
    Use Horizontal/Vertical Stretch to make your picture smaller
    In the 'Save as type:' drop down box, select the JPEG (*.JPG,*.JPEG, *.JPE,*.JFIF) format and click 'Save'.

  8. My photos will not upload and are not in jpg format. How do I change them into jpg?

    9. If you have a PC, then go to Start ->Programs->Accessories->Paint
    Load your image into Paint
    Click 'File' and select 'Save as'
    In the 'Save as type:' drop down box, select the JPEG (*.JPG,*.JPEG, *.JPE,*.JFIF) format and click 'Save'.

  9. Can I save the slideshow to a cdrom/dvd or desktop?

    10. The slideshows are flash scripts and cannot be saved or burned.

  10. How can I get a copy of a photo on a slideshow?

    11. If the slideshow is public then you can right-click on the thumbnail and save the photo. If it is private then you need to ask that person for it.

Account/Login Problems

  1. Help! I can't sign in!

    2. Check the spelling of your email and password.
    Check if your antivirus software/popup blocker setting is too high or is blocking cookies from our site or try adding www.rockyou.com to the safe list.
    Our site requires cookies to be enabled in order to login.
    If you have a still have a problem then contact us.

  2. I send a password request but I never get it. What's wrong?

    3. Check your trash or spam folder first. If you still don't get it then add support@rockyou.com to the mailing list and send another request.

  3. How do I change my email?

    4. Contact us with message with your new and old email along with the password.

  4. How do I delete my account?

    5. Login into your account
    Click 'Account/Privacy'
    Click the link next to 'Delete Account'
    Enter your Reason and Password
    Click 'Delete Account' button.

  5. How do I change my password?

    6. Login into your account.
    Click 'Account/Privacy'.
    Click the change password link.
    Enter your old password and new password
    Click 'Save'

Slideshows

  1. My slideshow is not appearing in Myspace, Bebo, Friendster, Hi5, etc...

    2. Here are several things to check for:

    What version of flash are you using?

    Click http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/ to check.
    Click http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/ to get the latest version.

    Your browser could be reading from old cache data. Clear it and check again.

    Check your layout code for any these codes and remove them:

      td td object {position:absolute; left:0px; top:0px; display:block; width:0px; height:0px;}

      < style>embed{width:0px;height:0px;}

    If you installed a new layout then that could be the cause of the slideshow not playing.
    Check to see if the code is in between the < style > < /style > tags.

    If it is then move the Rockyou code to either before or after the < style > tags and check again.
    Otherwise, contact us with the URL of your page (if it is private then make it public) and we'll take a look.

    Finally, if all else fails then go to this page and contact us with the results.

  2. My slideshow is not in my account.

    3. Contact us with the link or instanceid of the slidehow and let us know. If you just create a slideshow then it could just take a bit longer than 20 minutes for it to appear.

  3. I can't see the captions/text in my slideshow.

    4. Try clearing the browser cache and check again.

  4. Why do I have the hotlinking/frog image on my slideshow?

    5. Your photos are hosted by Imageshack and they have banned all incoming images to Rockyou. Your photos are still there but they cannot be seen on our site. We recommend that you re-upload those images again to us or Photobucket. Contact us. and we'll help you out with the links to the images.

  5. Help! I can't drag and drop or add text to my slideshow.

    6. Check if your javascript is enabled.

    For Internet Explorer 6.0+:

    Click 'Tools' from the top menu
    Choose 'Internet Options'
    Click on 'Security' tab
    Click on 'Custom Level'
    Look for 'Scripting' and select 'Enable' under 'Active Scripting'
    Click 'OK'.

    For Firefox:

    Click 'Tools' from the top menu
    Choose 'Options'
    Choose 'Content' from the top navigation
    Choose 'Enable JavaScript'
    Click OK.

  6. My slideshows appears very small on Myspace. What's wrong?

    7. Check your layout code, look the embed code in between the < style > < /style > and remove it:

    For example:

  7. I have dialup AOL and I can't see my slideshow.

    8. AOL will compress images. Our slideshow cannot work will not work properly with compress images. Go to your browser settings (tools, internet options) and check to see if image compression is disable.

    Another option is to try another browser like Firefox.

  8. How do I remove/delete a slideshow or widget from Myspace?

    9. Login into your Myspace Account
    Click 'Edit Profile'
    Look for and Remove the Rockyou code

    The code looks like this:

    10. Login into your account
    Under 'My Slides' Click 'Edit'
    In the upper right side, Click 'Clear Songs'
    Click 'Save'

  10. I lost my code! How do I get the code?

    11. Login into your account
    Under 'My Slides' Click 'Publish'
    Grab the code in the yellow box

  11. How do I duplicate or combine slideshows?

    12. Send us a link to the slideshow(s) that you want to duplicate or combine.

Blog

  1. I get an error 'Stop showing HTML errors for this post' when I post to blogger. What's wrong?

    2. This is a bug with the IE browser. Check the box that say 'Stop showing HTML errors for this post' and click 'Publish'.

Privacy

  1. How do I make my account private?

    2. Login into your account.
    Click on the 'Account/Privacy' link
    Uncheck the box next to 'Sharing Preference'
    Click 'Save Changes'

  2. How do I make my slideshow private?

    3. Login into your account.
    Click 'Edit'
    Click 'Privacy' and uncheck the box 'Allow Sharing'
    Click 'Save'

  3. What can I do if someone stole my photo and made a slideshow with it?

    4. Please contact us with the link to the slideshow and where it is posted. We will need additional information such as actual photos within the slideshows.

    Click 'Delete...' button from Browsing History.
    Click 'Delete Files...'
    Click 'Ok'

    For Firefox:

    From the top menu:
    Tools > Options > Privacy > Cache tab
    Click 'Clear Cache Now' and OK.

    For Opera:

    Tools > Preferences > Advanced > History > Disc cache
    Click 'Empty now' and OK.

  1. Login to your www.myspace.com
  2. Click 'Edit Profile'
  3. You can paste the code in any of these sections 'About Me', 'I'd Like to Meet', 'Interests', 'Music', 'Movies', 'Television', 'Books', or 'Heroes'.
  4. Click 'Preview Section'
  5. If Ok, click 'Save all Changes'

How to add a slideshow to Bebo

  1. Login to your www.bebo.com
  2. Click 'My Profile'
  3. In 'Widget Site' select 'Rockyou'
  4. Add the code in the textbox and click 'Save'

How to add a slideshow to Friendster

  1. Login to www.friendster.com
  2. Click on the 'My Profile' tab at the top
  3. Click on the 'Edit Profile' link
  4. Paste the Slide Show code into the 'About Me' or 'Describe Who You Want to Meet' section
  5. Click on 'Save'
